How do you turn your problems into cash?
 
This is a short story about how I turned 2 problems into cash, $459,649.87 to be exact.
 
The first problem was mine, I didn’t have any cash and was $100,000 in debt.
 
The second problem belonged to some people I knew. They wanted a product to compete with Lego, a $2billion company which totally dominated the toy building block industry.
 
At the time I had no idea how to solve either problem, but in the back of my mind was the thought “If I could come up with an answer to the second problem, it may just solve my
first problem.”

The first thing I did, which was small but significantly different to what many people did, was ask myself the question “How could I compete with Lego?” Most people I spoke to thought “It is impossible to compete with Lego”, and stopped, where as I thought “How could I do it, there must be a way?”

This small but significant difference in thinking started
the journey to creating BetterBlocks, the first building
block system to successfully compete with Lego.
 
You should try this subtle, but very powerful change in
thinking. When you catch yourself thinking “I can’t, there’s
no way” change it to “How could I?” This 1 simple exercise
will bring about the most amazing transformation to your
life.
 
How it works is it changes your thinking so your mind is
open to noticing solutions. It becomes like a funnel,
looking for and channelling in possible solutions.
 
Have you ever decided to purchase a new car? From that
moment, everywhere you look is the car you decided to buy.
They have always been there; you simply haven’t noticed them
before. Give your mind a target and it will find what you
want.
 
With the development of BetterBlocks wanted blocks which
bend and curve when they are clipped together. This required
a clipping system which would hold the blocks together and
still allow them to move. I had no idea how to do it, but I
knew it could be done.
 
One morning, while I doing up my jeans, I discovered the
answer, literally right under my nose. The press stud on my
jeans clipped together and still rotated. I had clipping
system I was looking for.
 
Thinking of and discovering a solution is one thing. You
have to physically do something to turn your answer into
cash.
 
I had samples made to do product research (did children
actually like my product?) and show potential investors and
marketers my idea worked. I eventually sold BetterBlocks to
a very successful direct marketing person, Kelvin Claney. He
took BetterBlocks from $0 sales to $15million in 1 year.
 
The first critical point:-
 
Earning more cash is simply doing something different to
what you are doing now. This can be achieved by only a very
slight change in thinking.
 
It’s like this. If you head west from New York you will
arrive in San Francisco. Change your course slightly, by 3
degrees and you will arrive in Los Angeles, a totally
different destination, a totally different result.
 
The second critical point:-
 
Do something about you solution and be persistent.
 
You see I’m no rocket scientist, but I am persistent. I make
plenty of mistakes but correct them as soon as I can and
keep going.
 
Thomas Edison made over 1,000 mistakes before he invented
the light globe. What a dark world it would be if he had not
corrected his mistakes and kept going.
 
BetterBlocks earned me $459,649.87 because I was persistent.
 
So change your thoughts (only slightly), be persistent and
enjoy all the successes you deserve.
